WELLINGTON 34-13 KINGSBRIDGE

The game kicked-off and Kingsbridge conceded four tries in the first half because they forget that when you play rugby you have to push in scrums, jump and catch the ball in the lineout, tackle the opposition players, chase kicks, and hit rucks….etc….etc.

Matt Barlow kicked one penalty to make the score 29-3 at half time

The players were reminded at half time what you have to do to play rugby and scored a try straight from the kick off. Matt Barlow broke from the back of a maul, the ball passed through two or three pairs of hands before Ali Hamilton went over for a try in the right hand corner.

Wellington then proceeded to make sure they won the game for the next 20 minutes by kicking down the slope to the corner resulting in lots of scrums and lineouts in the Kingsbridge 22m. Eventually the stronger Wellington scrum managed to push Kingsbridge over the line for their fifth try.

Kingsbridge came back strongly and were the much better side in the last 20 minutes. Sustained pressure eventually resulted in winger George Eynon-Lewis flying in for a well worked try in the left corner.

Although Kingsbridge can take some credit for coming back into the game and winning the second half it was all too little too late. The final score was 34-13.

This week will see Kingsbridge entertaining Exeter Saracens at High House at 2.30pm whilst the A XV travel to face Exeter Saracens II’s in the Devon Merit Table. The Colts are without a match this weekend having completed phase 1 of this seasons Merit Table programme.
