Kingsbridge U13 17 Ivybridge U13 0
Kingsbridge played Ivybridge on Sunday, after they kindly came at short notice after a cancellation.
Ivybridge chose to kick off leaving Kings playing into the wind.
Despite not having many clear scoring chances, Kings had plenty of possession and spent a lot of time deep in the Ivybridge half, so when they finally took the lead in the 20th minute it was not unexpected, and it was centre Matt Moysey who powered through the defence to score in the corner. As half time approached Kings added a second try when James Kenny crashed over the line from close range and the try was converted by Ben Baldry.
Ivybridge came out very strong after the interval as expected, but it was Kings who were to score again when Kenny stole the ball from an Ivy line out on their 5 metre line and dived over to score. A fourth try should have been scored by Kings but a poor pass only feet from the try line spoilt the move when a try was assured.
Ivybridge spent most of the final five minutes inside the Kingsbride half, but Kings defended very well and tackled excellently to prevent the visitors from scoring, to give Kings a very well deserved 17 point victory.
The squad was, Alistair Orchard, Ben Baldry, Ben Simpson, Christopher Stacey, Dan Schenck, George Watson, Harvey Bond, Jack Seear, James Kenny, Josh Morgan, Luke Jarvis, Matt Moysey, Max Hollingworth, Ollie Pound, Oscar White, Oscar Wilson, Sam Hamilton and Will Haddy.
